Join us and other dog lovers for a day filled with family and canine fun! You will be helping us raise money for the fight against Batten disease that affects our children...and our dogs!
Batten disease is a fatal rare neurological degenerative disease that affects children of all ages. This disease currently has no treatment or cure.
Batten Disease Research and Support Association supports programs, services and research in the fight against Batten disease….and our dogs benefit too!
Because canines and humans share much of the same genome, research on canine disease applies to people as well. Many breeds of dogs also carry the genetic markers for Batten disease and research is currently underway to help both our dogs, and children , live longer, healthier lives.

A Deadly Disease Without a Cure
Batten disease is a rare, genetic neurological disorder that primarily affects children and adolescents. Over time, affected children suffer mental impairment, worsening seizures, and progressive loss of sight and motor skills. Eventually, children with Batten disease become blind, bedridden, and unable to communicate. Presently, there is no effective treatment for the disease and the disease is always fatal.
About the Batten Disease Support and Research Association
The Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the largest support and research organization in North America for families that have children with the disease. Continued research efforts hold the key to the future for these children.
